Discover How God Answers Us in Our Daily Lives
Hebrews 4:12 says, “God speaks to us through his word; we speak to Him through prayer.”
I wonder how many of us truly understand the meaning of that verse. Let’s unpack it, and I’ll explain how it relates to a situation I recently experienced.
Let’s Rewind
One morning, I sat in my car waiting for my daughter to board the school bus.
As I waited, I felt overwhelmed.
I felt frustrated by threatening emails. My coworkers were texting me the most recent articles. The constant worry about losing my job weighed heavily on me.
My daughter walks to catch her bus and I find myself staring off into the distance. I try to ignore all the notifications buzzing on my phone.
Still, a trusted friend is desperately trying to reach me. She’s sending all kinds of motivational text messages, but I can’t seem to pull myself out of this funk.
My tribe continues to support me. They do this even when they sense that I’m pulling away or struggling emotionally.
The people in your life should help you find positive ways to cope with your challenges.
As a Christian, I feel compelled to help others, no matter how big or small the need may be.
Galatians 6:2 states, “Bear one another’s burdens, and in this way, you will fulfill the law of Christ.” It’s important to invest in others just as we invest in ourselves.
Let’s get back to the story.
The Screenshot
A few months ago, I started a new blog focused on lifestyle topics. The content was intended to cover areas related to fitness, relationships, and wellness.
I was concerned. If I only promoted topics centered around Christ, building a supportive community would be challenging.
But something in my spirit urged me, “This blog needs to be rooted in Christian values.” I realized that God intended my life to be a medium for spreading His word.
Despite my many attempts to change direction, God continually pulled me back to creating a Christian blog.
That same friend later sent me a screenshot from a book she was reading.
Although the book primarily targeted married couples, she believed it offered valuable insights that I could relate to—and she was right.
Inspired by my friend’s screenshot, I wrote my first faith-based blog “Overcoming Inadequacy: Finding Your Worth Like Leah.”
Initially, I named it “How God Sees Us,” but that was just a temporary title for my draft. In this blog, I discuss how God truly sees us, regardless of how we perceive ourselves.
I emphasize that we are God’s workmanship. We don’t need to feel inadequate because we are already enough for Him.
I won’t go into more detail because I don’t want to spoil the rest of the post. I encourage you to check it out when you can: “Overcoming Inadequacy: Finding Your Worth Like Leah.”
My Prayer
That night, I engaged in a detailed prayer with God. I had just finished my first blog.
I felt like I was finally pulling myself out of a negative space. Yet, I still sought God’s blessing.
I prayed for the Lord to bless the blog if it aligned with His will and purpose for my life.
The next day, I woke up. I turned to my lovely desk calendar. It features daily inspirational Bible quotes and scriptures. I read these every morning before starting my day.
As I read the quote of the day, it stated, “Lord, help me see myself as You see me. I am Your custom craftsmanship. Thank you for making me unique, magnetic, and necessary. Help me to embrace my significance and magnificence.”
Tears overflowed as I reflected on those words.
See.
This is how God speaks to us—through His word. I felt deeply moved. The messages on my desk calendar confirmed the topic I discussed in my first blog post.
This revelation showed me that I was on the right path. God answered me. I asked for His blessing, and He granted it.
In John 5:14, it says, “And this is the confidence we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us.”
My friend didn’t realize that God was using her.
So how does God answer us?
He does this through His provision, protection, guidance, and by leading us to act by His will.
The Holy Spirit led my friend to fulfill God’s purpose. Without that screenshot, I wouldn’t have been inspired to write my first blog post.
Here’s how you can start building a closer relationship with God today:
1. Read your Bible.
2. Draw connections from your experiences using His word.
3. Pray throughout the day.
God will respond by sending signs, peace, and contentment. He will guide us to engage in His work and become part of His answer.
Start reading His word, your Bible, and speak to Him through prayer. Trust that God will direct your path just as He has directed mine.
Until next time!
